Hello everyone, this post is all about the beautiful city, the city with chilling climate, best suited for living, the city of temples, the city best known for industries (hence called Manchester), the city of cotton, and so on. Yes, it is the most adorable city Coimbatore.

The city is located in the western part of Tamilnadu, that borders the kerala known for its climate. This city has the borders made by the Western ghats that brings treat to your eyes.
The city has a wide range of tourism and this blog is all about the places to visit in and around the city.
1. Koniamman temple

The temple is located in the centre of the city, town hall. It is near to the junction, or from the bus stand it takes about 3 kms. The deity is koniamman from which the city got its name koniammanpudhur, which later turned out to be koyambuthur.the temple dates back to 16th century A.D. with beautiful heart carving architectural work. The deity is considered to be the guardian deity of the city. Every year koniamman car festival takes place where lakhs of people participate, and it is declared holiday for the total city.
2. Ranganathar temple

The shrine is located in the place karamadai, about 23 kms from the Coimbatore city. The temple has a very old history and it dates back to the 10-11th century. The deity is Lord Vishnu and his consort lakshmi. The temple has a seven tiered gopuram ( the front entrance) . The temple proves as a model of the Dravidian architecture. It is about 1 acre area surrounded with granite walls. The major attraction is the car festival called Bramostavam that happens every year in the month of march. It is controlled by the Hindu Endowment board.
3. Marudhamalai temple

The beautiful temple is located about 12kms west of the centre city. It is a hillock temple about 180 m above. The temple has Lord muruga as it’s main deity. The route to the temple completely gives treat to your vision with greenery all around. On the way to the temple is the Tamilnadu Agri University, where people can visit and buy plants to garnish their gardens. From the temple the bird view of city is seen. The temple also has a cave of pambatti sittar, who lived in early 12th century. The temple has it grand celebrations during Thai poosam. The temple provides shuttle service for the pilgrims to reach the temple top and there is also walk paths with steps on the other side.
4. Perur temple

The very old architectural stand that was build in the 2nd century during the chola period. The temple has the lord Shiva as the main deity with his consert parvati devi. The temple is located in the western part of the city. And it is in the banks of noyyal river. The temple’s deity is called “suyambu lingam” ( self emerged). The temple has great history of chola era and the architecture tells various stories that show the various nayanmaars contribution towards the temple. Panguni uttiram is celebrated in a grand manner, where the corporation itself provides with shuttle services for the people convinience. The beautiful part is the kanaha sabai with the golden statue of the lord Nataraja.
5. Masaniamman temple

This temple is located at the 24kms south west to the Pollachi. The temple is in the down skirts of the anamalai hills and in the banks of the river from aliyar dam. The temple has the shrine of Devi masaniamman. She is 11 feet deity in the lying position. The deity has several stories as to the local people. There is a belief that the godess cures any illness if people go around her trident. There is also belief that people grind mirchis ( chilli) as offerings to the deity.
So the part-1 is totally about the pilgrim places, and the architectural, historical stands in the city. The upcoming part-2 is all into the nature.
